gnocchi with tomato sauce

Ingredients

tomatoes 400 gram (peeled)
gnocchi 500 gram
mozzarella cheese 1 pack
grana padano 100 gram
basil 4 tablespoon
olive oil 2 tablespoon
onion 1
sugar 1 tablespoon

Preparation

  1. Peel and chop the onion. Fry the onion in a big pan until golden brown. Add the (canned) peeled tomatoes, bring to boil, then season with sugar, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat and leave to simmer.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the gnocchi as stated on the package.
  3. Cut the mozarella cheese into pieces, add them to the tomato sauce, and leave to melt.
  4. Grate the grana padano cheese.
  5. Add half of the basil to the sauce.
  6. Serving suggestionDistribute the gnocchi on 4 pasta plates, spoon tomato sauce over them, then sprinkle with the grated cheese and the remaining basil.
