Romanian bean pot


Ingredients

savory or laurel 2 leaf
lemon juice 1 teaspoon
beans (greens) 400 gram
thyme 1 tablespoon (dried)
bacon (streaky) 100 gram
garlic 1 clove
onion 1
beans (white) 100 gram

Preparation

  1. Soak the beans for 24 hours. Crush the garlic clove with salt. Cut the bacon into cubes. Heat the bacon in a pan for about 5 minutes, add onion cubes and garlic. Then add the beans with the water they soaked in. Season with salt and thyme.
  2. Let simmer for 90 minutes. Add the green beans 20 minutes before the end of the cooking time. Season with lemon juice to taste. After 1 hour of cooking add the laurel.
  3. Serving suggestionServe with fresh bread.
